    Welcome! I am Albuquerque piano teacher Karen Williams. I teach beginning and intermediate piano students. Students are taken up to the level they choose. First and foremost, learning the piano and music should always be fun! Aside from providing stress-free teaching, encouragement is given every step of the way!

     The lessons I provide allow students to understand the keyboard, written music, and music that is heard. Whether you want to play simply for your own enjoyment or go further, students gain understanding and ability.

    In order to learn effectively and to practice efficiently, the lessons I give teach students to play music by sight and to understand music that is heard. The singing of notes is used to reinforce what is taught. Through this comprehensive method, each student progresses with an understanding of music as well as the ability to play the piano.

    Students who know absolutely nothing about the piano or music are most welcome! The very first steps are taught in a way that acclimates students to accepting new challenges and trying new things. The lessons also give students confidence about their ability from progress made.

    Lessons are provided in your home and any difficulties in practice are easily addressed and resolved. Positive new experiences with the various components of music lead to steady progress that can be heard by the listener and felt by the student!
